This mural has been a struggle to appreciate correctly via photos as it’s proven hard to see the correct colour collaborations working together when photographed in direct sunlight. I’ve seen other photos of it in bright sunlight and the colours appear bleached out or totally different to how it looks in person. This video manages to capture the depth of vivid highlights agains the deep black background. Fortunately when I finished the painting, it was cloudy, so I hope you enjoy this video because how you see the piece here, is most accurate to what I aimed to achieve. #mural #graffiti #portrait

My last commission was created specifically for this room. This 3 piece canvas hugs the shadows that enter from the abundance of sunlight. The gold colour and main circle, mirror the chandelier, with the mitred angles then matching the adjacent pitched window. Mental Health Resource - @twmhr18 - is a local, award-winning charity, which provides safe spaces & person-centred mental health support to help people improve their wellbeing. Our projects are designed to make people feel supported, valued and connected and include a wellbeing centre delivering free wellbeing activities, outreach for young people, an out of hours service on a Sundav afternoon and advocacy for those who have been detained under the Mental Health Act 1983. Last year we supported 802 people with range of mental health conditions including anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar, psychosis, borderline personality disorder and others. As a small charity, we are extremely grateful for the support we receive from the local community, which helps us reach local people who benefit from our person-centred mental health support. If you’re quoting jobs yourself, make sure that clients know the price does not directly correspond with the time scale you may give. Understandably, they may need to know how long you’ll be to make scheduling easier, but they should not be dividing the total cost, by the days spent on the job. If clients ask, I often say ‘up X’ amount of days and work out the worst case scenario for the job. We all know that if you end up spending extra days on the job, they won’t be paying you any more, so why should they claim to pay less for completing the work quickly. Surely getting out of their way quicker is always a benefit to them? As long as you have delivered the high quality service which they expected, you get paid the full amount you quoted, even if you said it could be X amount of days, and you did it faster. ‘Day rate’ seems to be biting new artists in the arse so please try to avoid this method of quoting unless you only work off day rate for a fixed annual income. Make sure you know you’re worth and don’t let people try and shave off pounds after a price is agreed. Where I’ve come from over the last 8 years… It’s so interesting to look back and see how my artwork has evolved. I used to say ‘yes’ to every job, which is one of the key elements which has allowed me to get to where I am today, even if it sometimes put me in a stressful situation. To grow, you need to continuously take these ‘yes’ risks and keep pushing the boundaries. Take on the scary briefs and see what you’re really made of!
